On May 17, 2012, the New York Region Next Generation Philanthropy Community (NGPC) hosted an opening gala for JustArt: Justice, Advocacy and Art, the inaugural art exhibition, fundraiser and silent auction at Benrimon Contemporary in New York City. JustArt was the vision of Next Generation Philanthropy Executive Board Member, Rebecca Shomair, who wanted to express the universality of ADL’s mission through art. JustArt’s exhibition, which was displayed at the gallery from May 18-20, was curated by ADL leaders and features artwork from 25 emerging, award-winning artists. The pieces were created for the exhibition and convey the artists’ perspective of one or more aspects of ADL’s mission—such as combating hate, education, Israel or religious freedom—through different media—painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture or interactive media. The exhibit featured the works of noted, local artists including Jeremy Penn, Borbay, Alona Fromberg-Elkayam and Elke Reva-Sudin. Twenty-five percent of proceeds from sale of the artwork in the silent auction went to support ADL’s local efforts in New York City.
